Top 5 Most Weirdest Mating Rituals Found In The Animal Kingdom

We all know that reproduction takes place in two different ways, sexual and asexual. Sexual reproduction is definitely superior to asexual reproduction because it involves fusion of gametes between two different individuals. Human beings and animals produce offspring's through sexual reproduction. Evolution is solely dependent on sexual reproduction and sexual reproduction is dependent on mating. The process of mating is somewhat similar in human beings and animals. By somewhat, I only mean the last process which involves the fusion of gametes and all the rest is entirely different. You will not believe it now but after reading this article you will find that your eyebrows have touched your ceiling. Lets take a look at some of the most oddest, weirdest, and bizarre mating rituals found in the animal kingdom.

1. Praying Mantis

Praying Mantis are found everywhere in the world. Even bug haters will fall in love with Praying Mantis because of their praying posture and green colour. Now, the shocker, the female Praying Mantis indulges in sexual cannibalism. It means that during sexual intercourse, a female Praying Mantis chops off the head of its male partner, causing it to die. Studies have proved that there are two reasons behind this cannibalistic act. The first one is that a male Praying Mantis without its head will ejaculate faster. The second reason is gluttony, to produce eggs female Praying Mantis will need energy and what is the better source of energy than the head of it's mate. Check out this video,

2. Honeybee

We all love honey but after reading this, whenever you taste honey you will feel sorry for male honeybees. Everyone is aware of the universal fact that there is only one female bee in one nest and she is the lucky queen. The rest of the bees are males who are workers. When the queen becomes sexually mature, the problem arises because each and every male bee wants to mate with her. Then there is a brutal contest between the male bees and one among them somehow succeeds in mating with the queen and during ejaculation his male organ explodes and is lodged inside the Queen bee. This acts as a barrier to stop other males from mating with the queen. Really, the life of a male honey bee is pathetic, he dies when he stings a person and again dies while mating. Check out this video,

3. Whiptail Lizard

Have you ever imagined a world without women? No, you know it will never happen. So, imagine women getting pregnant without men. Yes, this might be a possibility for human beings in the future but today this is a common reality for Whiptail Lizards. Yes, you read it correct, Whiptail Lizards can be termed as the lesbians of the animal kingdom. During mating, a female Whiptail Lizard acts like a male and starts rubbing its body against the female Whiptail lizard and this causes the female to ovulate and lay her eggs. When the pregnant Whiptail Lizard had laid its eggs, they again follow this mating ritual but this time for a slight change, they switch roles and the previous acting male now becomes the female and vice versa. Check out this video,

4. Red-Sided Garter Snake

Most of us know that our body secretes chemical compounds known as "pheromones". The scent of these chemicals attracts the opposite sex. As far as mating is concerned, pheromones play a major role in the animal kingdom. The mating ritual of a red-sided garter snake is also entirely dependent on pheromones. The male and female red-sided garter snakes emit different scented pheromones. During mating season, a male red-sided garter snake easily identifies its mate by the scent of its pheromones. Till now everything is fine, a happy couple who are on the verge of mating. The problem arises when the male produces both the male and female pheromones. This uncontrollable flood of pheromones attracts hundreds of other potential males which results in a mating ball. The males were fooled by the scent and in the end, it results in a massive orgy, with one female taking on hundreds of males. Check out this video,

5. Porcupines

Most of us might have seen porcupines in a zoo. They look like a rat wearing an armour of thousands of needles. The mating of porcupines is really a stinking affair. When a female porcupine is ready to mate, she secretes pheromones which attracts potential males. Then comes the battle for dominance which is fought with needle-sharp quills and in the ends a male survives. Even after wining the bloody war the male can't simply mate with the female because he has to pursue and impress his female. If the male attempts to mate without impressing then he will find hundreds of sharp quills protruding out of his private parts. The persuasion process involves the male porcupine spraying a high velocity stream of piss on his potential mate from head the toe. This small animal is capable of spraying 6-foot long urine stream to impress its mate. Once the female is impressed by the high spraying power, the mating begins. Check out this video,

Thank the Gods that human beings don't belong to the animal kingdom.

Some Misconceptions I Had As A Child

I really miss my childhood days. Those are the days when you know nothing about the world and its reality. You believe whatever you see and hear. Now, when I think about some misconceptions I had as a child, I really wonder how foolish I was in my childhood days. It is not only me but everyone was foolish in their childhood days but at that period in our life, foolishness and innocence were our most treasured possessions. I had many misconceptions during my childhood and I'm sure most of you were also thinking like me in your childhood days.

1. Playing cricket was my passion during my childhood days and the greatest misconception I had was that after each over batsmen change their ends and I played like this for at least 3 years. Then, one day I got enlightened when I watched a cricket match played by big boys and at that point I realised that it is not the batsmen who change ends but it's the bowlers and the wicketkeeper who do that.

2. I had the habit of eating lots of tamarind and once my grandmother told me that if I swallowed the seed then a giant tamarind tree will sprout out of my stomach. I was so horrified with this knowledge that I left eating tamarind for at least a few weeks. Even today, the sight of a tamarind takes me back to my childhood days.

3. When I was a child I used to watch a programme called "Rangoli" which was aired on Doordarshan channel. It was a programme about Bollywood movie songs and whenever I saw an actor or actress singing, I thought that they were actually singing the songs but one day the bomb exploded and I came to know about playback singers.

4. Even today, sometimes I watch WWE but in my childhood days, I was crazy about WWF and from the depths of my heart I believed that WWF was very real and Undertaker has seven lives. When the truth hit me, I got less interested in WWE.

5. The nature knows that we are fools when we are a child and it plays crazy tricks on us. One of them was the rain trick. As a kid I thought that when it rained, it rained everywhere. I was so sure because I knew that rains were caused by clouds and clouds are present everywhere. Then one day, my science teacher explained that all the clouds can't cause rain at once.

6. The second trick of nature was, I believed that winds were produced when tress moved their branches but my misconception was cleared when my teacher explained the complex process behind the production of winds.

7. Nowadays, I watch a lot of Hollywood movies but during my childhood I thought that English movies were only for adults.

8. When I was a kid, I used to play with both boys and girls and I thought that the only difference between them was that the girls have long hairs but after some years when the fact hit me, the whole perception of life changed. Even now, when I think about it, I realise how ignorant and stupid I was.

9. One of my greatest misconceptions was that a baby is born when you hug and kiss (on cheek) a girl and a baby is born through the bellybutton.

10. Whenever I got sick as a kid, my mother used to give me tablets and capsules. Every time, before swallowing a tablet or capsule, I thought the capsule is going to stuck in my throat and I will definitely die. This fear made me swallow tablets in half and I used to take capsules by mixing its contents in a spoon of milk.

If you had some misconceptions as a child then please share it.

The Art Of Peeing

Don't get me wrong. The title may be a little offensive but I can't help it. After reading this article you will also agree that this is the most apt title for this content. You will be thinking, how can peeing be considered an art. Till yesterday, I also considered peeing as a boring process of discharging urine from the bladder but after doing some research I found that peeing is not only an art but the person who is peeing is also an artist. There are seven different types of peeing arts and I must confess that I am a peeing artist. After reading this article, you will find that you are also an peeing artist. To know what kind of peeing art you perform read the following peeing arts.

1. The Thinker

This is one of the most common art of peeing. You might have come across such peeing artists in public urinals. The characteristic features of a peeing thinker is his composed look with his head thrown back. His eyes might be closed as if he is in some deep thinking process. What is he thinking? It may be anything from household issues to rocket science but one thing is sure that peeing thinkers can't pee without thinking or is it vice versa. Most of the peeing thinkers are middle aged people who are so burdened with their thoughts that they can't stop thinking even while peeing.

2. The Whistler

The whistler is a person who whistles nonchalantly while peeing. They are also a common sight in public urinals. Normally a person whistles when he is happy but what makes a person whistle while peeing in a public urinal. Is it the strong smell of ammonia and naphthalene balls that arouses his happiness? Some research's have proved that whistling in public urinals is a sign of inferiority complex. Whistling helps them to pretend that they are not actually there. It is true that lot of youngsters whistle while peeing but is it due to inferiority complex or some other reason, only they can tell.

3. The Paranoid

A paranoid pisser is a person who holds some foreign object between his knees while peeing. There are two reasons for this kind of behaviour. The first one is quite simple, the person didn't want to get his things stolen while attending nature's call. So, he ducks it between his legs. The second one is complex and psychological. Some studies have proved that holding a foreign object between the knees of a person helps him to concentrate his mind and body to the task at hand, i.e. peeing.

4. The Fumbler

The fumbler is a person who has just realised that his peeing organ is missing. A person who happens to see a fumbler will think that the man is fumbling with his zipper but a person who is observing this fumbler for quite a long time will understand his misery. It is a fact that we all have at least for once played the role of a fumbler in our life. This happens when our body is exposed to cold conditions. So, a majority of people working in air conditioned spaces are fumblers.

5. The Aimer

One of the most awkward postures in the art of pissing is that of an aimer. As the name signifies, an aimer is a person who is so sure of his aim that he keeps both of his hands on his hips while peeing. An aimer might consider his posture as cool but in the eyes of the on lookers, it is an arrogant posture. Studies have proved that aimers are attention seeking people. They want to get the attention of people in each and every matter and peeing is one of them.

6. The Watcher

The watchers are the most common peeing artists found all over the world. Most of us have encountered watchers while peeing. Studies have proved it to be a natural competitive behaviour found in men. If the studies are true then the competition is to see who pees first.

7. The Talker

Have you ever participated in debates with fellow beings while peeing in public urinals? If yes, then you are a peeing talker. A peeing talker can be any person who wants to bond with a stranger while peeing but studies have proved that people from corporate background are the most talkative while using a public urinal. You can''t blame them because people working in corporate companies have the habit of chatting with their colleagues during breaks and they have simply carried this habit to the urinals.

Top 5 World's Biggest Unsolved Murder Mysteries

Murder is not something new to our society. If we believe in the story of Cane and Able then the history of murder can be traced back to our own origins. Hundreds of people are murdered daily throughout the world and some of them are solved instantly, some may take few months or years to get solved but still there are some creepy murder cases without any solution. Let's take a look at some of the most famous unsolved murder mysteries which can never be solved and how they got immense popularity among public.

1. Jack The Ripper

Any list of unsolved murder mysteries would be incomplete without the mention of Jack The Ripper. Ripper is the most infamous murderer in the modern history. It is believed that Ripper murdered 5 women, all prostitutes in the areas of the Whitechapel district in London in 1888. The dead bodies of the prostitutes were found with their throats slit and their abdomens completely mutilated. Due to the removal of specific organs from his victims, it was speculated that Ripper was either a doctor or a butcher.

The names of five well known Ripper victims were, Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly. The technique used in killing the first three prostitutes were similar but the final two murders were hurried affairs which only bore slight resemblance to the the "original" Ripper murders. So, it is believed that the murders associated with Jack The Ripper was not the work of a single assailant but a copycat murderer was also involved.

During the time of these murders, a number of letters circulated among the police and newspapers but it was proved that most of these "Ripper letters" were forgeries. Over the years there have been many speculations as to the identity of Jack the Ripper but there wasn't even a leading suspect. It's likely that the true identity of "Jack the Ripper" will never be known.

2.  The Taman Shud Case

On 30th November 1948, many people saw a man lying on Somerton Beach in Australia. He was behaving in a queer way by extending his right arm out and afterwards he didn't seem to move. The next day, on December 1, 1948, at  around 6:30 AM, the police found the dead body of the man at the same place on the beach. The discovery of this dead body led to several unsolved mysteries. Forensic reports proved that the man was aged somewhat between 40 and 45. During the time of his death, the man was dressed in quality clothing but all the labels on his clothing had been removed.

Police found his arms in strange positions, with his right arm bent double. In his pocket, police found a used bus ticket a packet of cigarettes that contained a different brand sold exclusively in Britain. The autopsy found his heart to be healthy and in normal condition. There was blood mixed with the food in his stomach. His spleen was around 3 times larger than normal. Surgeons were convinced that he had not died a natural death. The autopsy tests didn't revealed any foreign substance in his body but still poisoning remained a prime suspicion.

On January 14, 1949, police discovered a brown suitcase that had apparently belonged to the man. Again they found that all labels had been removed from clothes, except a tie and a jacket. Police were eventually able to trace his jacket to America but his dental records and fingerprints didn't match anyone who'd ever lived there. It was like the man had never existed. The cops were able to find a secret pocket that had been made within the dead man's trousers. The secret pocket contained a tiny rolled up piece of paper with the words, "Taman Shud". The police found this to be an extract from a collection of poems named "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam" meaning 'ended' or 'finished'. A photograph containing the words "Taman Shud" were released in newspapers and shortly after a man came forward with the same book from which the words were taken. He told the police that he had found the book in the back seat of his car right around the time and location of death.

When the police inspected the book, it was found that the words "Taman Shud" were missing from the books pages and additionally they found some code written on the back side of the book. The code consisted of five sets of seemingly random letters. In order to identify the identity of the man, police published the images of the man in newspapers. By the end of February 1949 there had been eight positive identifications of the body but each of them were disapproved. To this day, the identity of this man as well as the code remains a mystery.

3. Andrew and Abby Borden

Nearly 120 years had passed since the murders of Andrew and Abby Borden but even today their case continues to intrigue historians. Why? The reason is quite simple because the accused person who committed this twin murders is their own daughter who can't be considered a maniac but a church going and respectable spinster. Then what provoked her to this brutality?

Lizzie Borden was the daughter of Andrew and Abby Borden who lived in Fall River, Massachusetts. Andrew was a rich businessman and Abby was her stepmother. They also had an Irish maid named Bridget Sullivan. On August 4, 1892 both the parents were found brutally murdered in their home. On that unfortunate day, Andrew Borden left his home to go to work, leaving behind his wife, daughter and the maid. After finishing his work, he came back to home early and took a nap on his sofa from which he never woke.

According to Lizzie's testimony she stated that she found her father dead at about 11:15 AM with grievous injuries on his head. The autopsy of the victims disclosed that Mrs. Borden was killed by the use of some sharp and terrible instrument. The instrument used to kill her had inflicted eighteen blows on her head, out of which thirteen had crushed through her skull. The death of Andrew Borden was also due to some sharp object which had inflicted eleven blows on his head, out of which four had crushed through his skull. The most horrifying finding of the autopsy was that Mrs. Bordon had died one and a half hour prior to Mr. Bordon's death.

This finding was enough to nail Lizzie Bordon as the murderer. In addition to this, Lizzie had tried to purchase prussic acid (a poison) on August 3. The noose of suspicion tightened around Lizzie's neck when she was found to have burned a dress in a stove. The maid, Bridget Sullivan was also a prime suspect in this murders. The murder weapon was never discovered but an axe was found in the basement of Bordon's house. It is believed that the axe was used to carry out this brutal and heinous crime. Lizzie Bordon was eventually arrested and tried for the twin murders but due to the lack of solid forensic evidence, she was acquitted in June 1893. She was not proved guilty but she was treated as an outcast for the rest of her life. She spent her remaining years in the same house in River Fall till she died on 1927.

Whoever had read this unsolved murder mystery, deep down in their heart they will feel that Lizzie was actually guilty because apart from her no one would have dared to murder her own parents in the quiet of the home and in the broad daylight of an August day. However, Lizzie Borden was forever immortalised in the lines of the following playground verse,

Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.

4. The Zodiac Killer

The Zodiac Killer can be termed as the second most notorious unsolved serial murder mystery after Jack The Ripper. The Zodiac Killer was one of the most famous serial killers because he operated in major metropolitan areas like San Fransisco, Benicia, Lake Berryessa, and Vallejo. Zodiac himself claimed to have killed 37 people but is confirmed to have murdered at least five victims in these areas between December of 1968 and October of 1969. His targets were both male and female who were between the ages of 16 and 29. Due to the lack of forensic evidences at that time, only seven victims of Zodiac Killer has been identified till now, out of which four were men and three women.

The killer got his nickname Zodiac because he used to send cryptograms and letters to newspapers, especially to the San Francisco Chronicle to taunt local authorities. Till now, more than 2,500 potential suspects have been questioned in connection with the Zodiac Killer but none of them were held accountable for the murders.

5. Black Dahlia

The murder of Elizabeth Short better known as "Black Dahlia" was one of the most cruelest murders in human history. The speculation behind her unsolved murder has resulted in the publication of many books and film adaptations. She was born in 1924 and murdered in 1947. She was brutally murdered at the young age of 22 on January 15, 1947. Her dead body was found in Leimert Park, Los Angeles in a severed mutilated condition with a cut across her waist that was so deep that it sliced her in half. She was nude and the corners of her mouth were slashed up to her ears.

The autopsy test proved that she died due to blood loss. A few people were suspected to be involved in the gruesome murder but none of them were convicted. A turning point occurred in this unsolved mystery when a person contacted several newspapers to prove his involvement in this murder. Later the person sent an envelope containing Short's personal possessions to the newspapers which contained an address book. The cops traced the addressed to a person named “Mark Hansen” who had seen Elizabeth Short alive for the last time. He was questioned but was not found guilty. The huge popularity of this murder mystery has led many people to come forward and confess their roles in this murder but no one has ever been convicted of the crime.
