My Favourite Short Poems

It has been more than three months since I have blogged. I wanted to, but I was not able to. In the past four years I have realized that I am suffering from schizoid personality disorder. It is a rare personality trait, but it has nothing to do with schizophrenia. I used to blog about weird stuffs, but recently I found that I have no interest in writing about such things. I have discovered that my interests are decreasing day by day, there were so many things which I used to love in the past, but today I do not even feel nostalgic when I think about them. I guess I am running low on my emotions. I literally do not have any feelings towards anything, nothing makes me happy nor anything makes me sad. I do not feel any love or gratitude for my parents, even if something tragic happens to them I do not think it will bother me. I do not know when and how I became so emotionless. The only thing matters to me now is my loneliness/emptiness. This is the first time I am writing about my personal life and I had never imagined that my life would provoke me to write something like this. There comes a point in everybody's life when we have to choose whether we want to show the true side of ourselves to the world or we want to wear a mask and continue living with our secretive side through the rest of our lives. If you think I am writing this for sympathy then you are utterly mistaken, if you are planning to offer me some sympathy, I would suggest keep it with you, it might come in handy for you in the future.

I always loved art, be it poetry, short stories, music, paintings, sculptures, photography etc and even today when my list of interests are rapidly decreasing, I find that art inspires me and evokes some of the emotions that are still left inside me. "Art Washes Away From The Soul The Dust Of Everyday Life". People like me can find solace in art, but the people who create them are the ones who had and are living their lives fully. I have an above average imagination, but when it comes to writing poetry or short stories I fail because no matter how hard I try I just cannot concentrate my mind to convert my thoughts into words and I have an issue with patience. "Creativity Takes Courage", and in the past one year or so I have found so many creative people on Google+ who have indirectly helped me with their extraordinary talents.

From today's onwards, I am going to start a new segment on my blog which will be related to quotes, poems, paintings, music etc which I like. I am doing this for myself, I am 25 now and I would like to live a couple of more years holding on to my sanity. I do not have any suicidal ideation, my whole life has changed upside down over the last four years and even with my above average imagination skills, I do not have any idea what will happen in the next two years. So when the madness overcomes me and the darkness devours me, I would be happy knowing that I was able to share a part of myself with the world.

Some of the short poems I like:

1. “You see how I try
To reach with words
What matters most
And how I fail.” - Czesław Miłosz

2. “Even
After
All this time
The Sun never says to the Earth,

"You owe me."

Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the whole sky.” - Hafiz

3.  In this world
we walk on the roof of hell,
        gazing at flowers.

        Naked
on a naked horse
        in pouring rain! - Kobayashi Issa

4. A brief candle,both ends burning
An endless mile, a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
We are all a part of everything
The future, present and the past
Fly on proud bird
You're free at last - Charlie Daniels

5. “I was born tomorrow.
Today I live.
Yesterday killed me.” - Parvis Owsia

6. "And the days are not full enough
And the nights are not full enough
And life slips by like a field mouse
                Not shaking the grass". - Ezra Pound

7. "The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough". - Ezra Pound

8. "The Night has a thousand eyes,
And the Day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one;
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done". - Francis William Bourdillon

9. "I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!" - Emily Dickinson

10. "I strove with none, for none was worth my strife:
         Nature I loved, and, next to Nature, Art:
I warm’d both hands before the fire of Life;
         It sinks; and I am ready to depart". - Walter Savage Landor

11. "My whole life long I've sharpened my sword
And now face to face with death
I unsheathe it, and lo!
The blade is broken
Alas!" - Soto

12. "Today you are You,
that is truer than true.
There is no one alive,
who is Youer than You". - Dr. Seuss

13. “In the world I am
Always a stranger
I do not understand its language
It does not understand my silence” - Bei Dao

14. "He who binds to himself a Joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the Joy as it flies
Lives in Eternity's sunrise". - William Blake

15. "Avoid the reeking herd,
Shun the polluted flock,
Live like that stoic bird,
The eagle of the rock". - Elinor Wylie
